Hi. My name is Alisha. Today I¡¯m going to talk about what I saw and felt in the class today.

Today I went to Gyeongbokgung palace. Gyeongbokgung is a main palace that Joseon Dynasty lived. The first gate what I passed was Gwanghwamun. Heungnyemun was the second gate to go in. Before I passed the last gate, I saw a bridge with haetae, the imaginary animal. This mean that haetae will protect from the satan. The last gate was called Geunjeongmun.

There are three types of palace; inner palace, outer palace, and hosting and resting palace. Inner palace is for living, and outer palace is for work. Lastly resting and hosting palace is for rest and host their guests.

After I passed the Geunjeongmun, I could see the Geunjeongjeon. Geunjeongjeon is the place that the king work publically. Also, national ceremonies were held here, too. You can see there are some rocks look like tombstones. But it¡¯s the ranking stone. Ranking stone is for the order, and they line up by a rank.

Behind the Geunjeongjeon, there is the Sajeongjeon. Sajeongjeon is the king¡¯s daily office. There are two other buildings more. The uses of them are that in winter there is no ondol system in Sajeongjeon, so king work in those other two. Of course, Geunjeongjeon and Sajeongjeon are outer palace.

Next to the Sajeongjeon, I saw the king¡¯s living quarter, Gangneongjeon. King lived and slept there. We can see that there is no dragon ridge. That¡¯s because king is a dragon, so two dragons cannot be in the same place. That¡¯s why that there is no dragon ridge.

In the back of the Gangneongjeon, there is Gyotaejeon where the queen lived. There is a little garden called Ahmisan. The reason why it¡¯s located back of the Gyotaejeon is that queen cannot go outside easily. Because it is living quarter, Gangneonjeon and Gyotaejeon are inner palace.

Lastly I saw Gyeonghoeru that is resting and hosting palace. There are 48 stone pillars that support the Gyeonghoeru. The outer pillars are shaped square and inner pillars are shaped round. Also, the artificial pond is square, and an island is round. This comes from Yin and Yang theory.

After I visited Gyeongbokgung palace, I became more interested in history. Also, I thought that I want to come here again. Thank you for your time.
