Today, I went to 경복궁, the main palace of joseon dynasty. I live in seoul since I born, but I didnt' go 경복궁 before, so I'm very upseted.
경복궁 is divided into three sections, inner palace, outer palace and hosting and resting place. There are also the bridge that separate royal family and citizen. The name of this bridge is 영재교.
When we go to 경복궁, we can see 광화문 first, which is the main gate of 경복궁.After through the 광화문, there are a second gate ,홍예문. Lastly, we passed the 근정문, and after we passed it, we can see 근정전 that main building in palace. 근정전 is used for ceremony such as coronation, royal wedding, or neighbour envoy reception.
Behind of the 근정전, there are three building, that is king's office, called 사정전. 사정전 is consist of three building. each building have different purpose. 천추전&만춘전 is only used for winter because only 천추전 and 만춘전 had korean heating system, 온돌.
강녕전 and 교태전 is living quarter of king and queeen. they have each bedroom. In 강녕전, there are no dragon ridge because dragon symbolize king, but king is already in 강녕전. Also, in 교태전, there are small natural garden called 아미산. At that time, queen can not go anywhere just in the palace. So for queen, there are a beautiful garden.
In 경복궁, we also can see a picture, that called 일월오봉도. It has many symbol such as king, queen, officers... like these one, totally it show joseon dynasty.
From todays 경복궁 class, I can see many trace of joseon dynasty, also I think that 경복궁 is very thoutful place and one of the wonderful palace of our country.
