Today l went to Seoul Museum of history. The most interesting part of the museum was hopae known as the ID card in modern day.

Hopae is an identification card in Joseon Dynasty. Only 16 year old man can make hopae. In the front was the name, class, date, and birth. In the back there is the issue and the year that one passed the examination. If you show the hopae to the gatekeeper you can enter the city or palace. It is different from class to class identification card. If the class is high you can get a fancy hopae like yang ban, but the lower class can make the hopae into wood.

To sum up, I knew that hopae was an identification card. Also I knew that hopae was really important in Joseon times. I want to go to the Seoul museum of history again. Thank you for listening!
